Verify the download. To check that your file is exactly the one published here, open PowerShell in the folder you downloaded it to and run Get-FileHash .\MoonRockDuckets-Beta-0.2.9.16-Setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256. The hash it prints should match the SHA-256 above, character for character (upper or lower case doesn’t matter). If it doesn’t match, delete the file and download it again from this page. Only download Moon Rock Duckets from moonrockduckets.com.

To uninstall, open Windows Settings > Apps and remove Moon Rock Duckets Beta. Uninstalling keeps your beta key and player settings.

How the beta works

  1. Get the game. Download and run Setup on a Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) PC. It installs for your Windows account and adds a Start menu entry. The desktop shortcut option is checked by default; you can untick it.
  2. Claim a free Beta Key with your name and email address, then enter the verification code sent to that address. Your key is shown on screen once, so copy or save it.
  3. Start the game, paste your key into the Beta Key screen and select Activate. The game remembers the key on that PC.
  4. Play for 30 days from your first activation. The game checks your key online every time it starts, so you’ll need an internet connection at each launch.

Play online with Quick Match

  1. Choose your world and mode in the game menu: Aerie or Ring World, and Deathmatch or Battle Royale.
  2. Select Online Quick Match. The game joins an available room with the same world, mode and build. If none is available, your PC hosts a new room and waits for another player. No IP-address exchange or port forwarding is needed.
  3. Wait for players to load. The countdown starts when at least two human players have joined and all admitted players are ready. Bots do not count toward that minimum. Battle Royale admission closes when the round starts.

Online rooms initially have eight player slots. One player's PC runs the match; if that host leaves, the match ends. An internet connection is required throughout online play. You can cancel an online search from the menu.

Radio is unavailable in online matches. LAN Quick Join / Same Network and Solo Practice remain separate options for nearby or solo play. The Privacy Policy explains how our relay handles the connection and game traffic.

What’s in this beta

The beta includes two worlds, Aerie and Ring World, with combat on foot and in flight. It’s pre-release software: expect bugs, missing polish and changes between builds. Experimental city maps and the exoplanet route preview are future development and are not part of this beta.

Changes in 0.2.9.16

Online Quick Match, LAN joining and Solo Practice retain their separate menu options. Aerie and Ring World remain the only public beta worlds.

Your existing beta features

Choose and save your public player name after activation. Verify your email when claiming or recovering a key; using the same address keeps your original access window and retained rewards. Activating a verified key records Beta Tester recognition for a future release. The badge is not displayed in this build.

Menu artwork preserves its proportions, and the beta menu includes only Aerie and Ring World.

Known limitations

Permanent ranked progression is not available. Current player-hosted matches and Solo Practice do not save EXP or unlocks to an account, and cannot award the permanent Rank 1 completion badge or the glowing [BTsTr] clan tag. The activation-based Beta Tester record described above is separate. The Loadout account-rank refresh may report that the service is unavailable.

The 40 component upgrades currently change gameplay tuning while retaining the base component appearance; they are not 40 distinct visual models. Aerie's wider landscape and foliage still need further visual polish.

Explorer's first-person sleeves can show ragged edges during whip and spear strikes.

First launches of newly signed builds have sometimes been delayed or stalled on the development computer. Wait for an existing launch before opening another copy. Clean-PC installation has not yet been verified.

Earlier public-relay gameplay checks used separate game processes on one computer, covering Aerie and Ring World in both Deathmatch and Battle Royale. Installation on a clean second computer and play between independent internet connections remain unverified. The eight-slot room limit is not a completed eight-player load test, and connection quality will vary with the host and players' distance from the relay.
