Moon Rock Duckets Beta Terms
The short version
- The beta is free, unfinished and provided as it is. Expect bugs.
- Your Beta Key gives you 30 days from the first time the game activates it. The game checks the key online every time it starts and whenever you join another player’s match; there is no offline mode.
- Your keys are for you alone. Don’t share, sell or trade them.
- Play fair: no cheating, harassment, bypassing the key or attacking our services.
- We can revoke a key that is misused, and we can end the beta; we’ll say why when we can.
This summary is only a guide. The full terms below are what apply.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and the developer of Moon Rock Duckets (“we”, “us”). They cover the free public beta of the game for Windows (“the beta”), the Beta Key you claim on moonrockduckets.com, and the online services the beta uses, such as key checks and in-game feedback.
You accept these terms by ticking the Beta Terms box when you claim a Beta Key. They also apply to anyone who plays the beta, whoever claimed the key. If you don’t agree with them, don’t claim a key or use the beta. This page always shows the current version, and you can save or print it.
2. Who can take part
You must be at least 16 years old to claim a key or play the beta. By claiming a key you confirm that you are. If you are under the age of legal adulthood where you live, ask a parent or guardian to read these terms with you; by claiming, you confirm that they agree. We only record your own confirmation.
3. What the beta is
- It’s free. There is no charge for the beta or for a Beta Key.
- It’s pre-release software. It will have bugs, crashes, missing features and rough edges. Settings or progress may be lost. Features, content and balance may change or be removed at any time, and a build may stop working.
- It’s limited. The beta includes the Aerie and Ring World maps only, and runs on 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. There is no support desk: use the in-game feedback form or email us, and we may not be able to reply to everything. Taking part does not include a free copy of the final release, another beta or future games.
- Beta recognition and rewards. We will retain selected beta achievements and rewards for returning players who verify their email address. Successfully activating a key claimed with that verified address records your Beta Tester reward. We plan to make that recognition available as a badge or symbol beside your player name in the final release; this beta does not display the badge yet. Other progress can still change or reset unless we specifically identify it as a retained reward. Use the same verified address for recovery, and keep access to that mailbox. Declining or unsubscribing from promotional emails does not remove earned rewards. Asking us to delete your player profile also deletes its recovery information and rewards.
- It runs on your PC. You are responsible for your device, its security and your internet connection. Back up anything important before installing pre-release software.
- Playing with others. Matches run on one player’s PC (the host), not on our servers. The host controls the match; if the host leaves, the match ends. In LAN and direct-IP play, the host sees your IP address. Online Quick Match routes game packets through our relay and does not share participants' public IP addresses through the game connection. You choose the display name other players see when you first start the game (see the Privacy Policy). The beta has no chat, voice or player-blocking system yet: if another player abuses you, email us with what happened and when.
4. Your Beta Key and access
- Your keys are personal. Every key you claim is for you alone. Claim only with your own email address, and don’t use more than one address to get more beta time. We can’t check that an address is yours, so if someone else claims keys with your address, email us and we can revoke them. Don’t share, sell, trade, give away, publish or transfer a key, and don’t buy or accept keys from anyone else. Anyone who has your key can use your beta access, so keep it private.
- 30 days from first activation. Your access lasts 30 days from the first time the game successfully activates your key, not from the day you claim it. Reinstalling the game or using it on another of your own PCs doesn’t restart the 30 days.
- Online check at every launch. The game checks your key with our server each time it starts, and the host’s game checks it again each time you join a match, so you need an internet connection even to play alone or on a LAN. If a check can’t be completed, or the key is not valid, the game won’t start or the host won’t let you in. If our server is unreachable, wait and try again; days lost to an outage are not added back. If your 30 days end or your key is revoked while you are in a match, the game leaves the match and returns to the key screen.
- Claiming and recovery. Enter the verification code we send to your email address before we issue a key. If you claim again with the same address, for example because you lost your key, you must verify it again; you get another key and your earlier keys keep working. Every key for that address shares the same 30 days, which start the first time any of them is activated: claiming again never restarts or extends them, and once your 30 days have ended no new beta key can be issued for that address. Expiring beta access does not erase your retained rewards or grant access to a future paid game. If we revoke a key issued to an address, no new keys can be claimed with that address; other keys already issued to it keep working unless we revoke them too.
- Ending access. We may revoke a key if these terms are broken, for example if it is used to cheat, has been shared or sold, or was claimed with someone else’s address, or where we need to protect the game, its players or our servers. We’ll act without notice where that is needed to stop harm, and tell you why when we can. If you think a revocation was a mistake, email us and we’ll look at it. We may also pause the services for maintenance or security, and we may end the whole beta; we’ll announce the end date on the beta page. A revoked or expired key stops working at its next check.
5. Acceptable use
When you use the beta, our website or our servers, you agree not to:
- cheat, use bots, aimbots, modified game files or other tools that give an unfair advantage, or deliberately abuse bugs (please report them instead);
- harass, threaten, bully, impersonate or discriminate against anyone, or share hateful, sexual, violent or illegal content;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or modify the game, or tamper with its network traffic, to bypass, disable or interfere with the Beta Key, the license check or any other access control, except to the extent that the law expressly allows this despite this restriction;
- disrupt, overload, probe, attack or try to gain unauthorized access to our servers, websites or other players’ devices, including by sending automated or bulk key claims;
- copy, re-upload, redistribute, rent or sell the beta or anything extracted from it, or sell keys; or
- download or use the beta where that would break export controls or sanctions that apply to you or to us, break any other law, or help anyone else do any of these things.
Reporting a bug you found, using accessibility tools, changing settings the game offers, and quoting what another player did in a report are all fine. If you find a security problem, email Support@MoonRockDuckets.com with “security” in the subject and don’t test it against other players or our servers beyond what you need to confirm it; we handle security reports privately.
Videos, streams and screenshots. You may record, stream and share videos and screenshots of the beta, including on channels that earn money, as long as you don’t redistribute the game files, sell or give away keys, extract assets, or suggest that we endorse you. In-match radio music may be claimed by its rights holders on your platform, so mute it if that is a problem. Honest reviews, good or bad, are welcome.
6. Feedback and things you send us
Sending feedback, such as bug reports, suggestions, ideas, likes and dislikes through the in-game form or otherwise, is optional. If you send it, you give us and whoever takes over the game a free, worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual and irrevocable permission to use, copy, change and build on the ideas, suggestions and information in it for any purpose, including in the game and other products, and to publish it, without paying or crediting you. This permission covers the substance of what you send, not your name or personal details, which we won’t publish. Asking us to delete a report under the Privacy Policy doesn’t undo work we already based on it. Security reports are handled privately and are not published. We don’t have to use any feedback.
Only send things you have the right to send. Don’t include your Beta Key, personal information about you or anyone else, or anything confidential, unlawful, abusive or that infringes someone else’s rights. These rules also apply to the display name you choose. The beta has no chat yet. We may ignore, remove or delete anything that breaks these rules from systems we control.
7. Ownership
The game and everything in it, including its code, art, music, characters, worlds, and the Moon Rock Duckets name and logo, belong to the developer of Moon Rock Duckets or to the third-party creators who license assets to us. Those licensors are credited in the game and in the NOTICES.txt file that ships with it. The beta is built with Unreal Engine; Epic Games, Inc. and our other licensors are not parties to these terms, make no promises to you about the beta, and their own notices and licence texts that ship with the game also apply. These terms don’t transfer ownership of anything to you.
We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable permission to download, install and play the beta for your own personal use, while your access lasts and in line with these terms (see section 5 for videos and streams). All other rights are reserved.
8. No warranty
To the extent permitted by law, the beta is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranty of satisfactory quality, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, and without any promise that it will be available, uninterrupted, secure or free of errors. Some places don’t allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss or damage, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from the beta or these terms. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for all claims relating to the beta is limited to the amount you paid us for it. Because the beta is free, that amount is zero. This is pre-release software: back up anything important on your PC before you install it.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing in them affects your legal rights as a consumer.
10. Ending the beta or your access
You can stop at any time by uninstalling the game and no longer using your key. Uninstalling doesn’t delete your registration or unsubscribe you from updates; the Privacy Policy explains how to do those. We can revoke a key or end the beta as described in section 4. When the beta or your access ends, your permission to use the beta ends too, but anything either of us was already entitled to stays as it is. Sections 6 to 9, 12 and 13 continue to apply afterwards.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the law, the beta’s features or our services change, or to make them clearer. The version date at the top of this page shows which version is current, and the version you accepted governs the keys you claimed under it. A new version applies to keys claimed after it is published, and you will be asked to accept it the next time you claim. If a change matters to people who already have keys, we will announce it on the beta page and email affected players at least 14 days before it applies to them; if you don’t accept the change, stop using the beta before that date. These service notices are separate from optional promotional updates. Game updates are not changes to these terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by State of Texas law (United States), without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country, state or province where you live. Claims may be brought in the courts of Texas or, if you are a consumer, in the courts where you live.
13. General
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. You can’t transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else. We may transfer these terms to whoever takes over the game, and they take over our obligations too. These terms are the whole agreement about the beta. The Privacy Policy, which is not part of these terms, explains how we handle personal data.
